Because that is how publishing and ordering happens sometimes we actually got two of Mary Jane Hathaway's books in this week. The second being Emma, Mr. Knightley and the Chili-Slaw Dogs, it is also part of the Jane Austen takes the South Series.
Carolina leaves her job at the Washington Post after the sudden death of her father to take care of her fragile mother. The only break she gets from anything and everything southern is her friend Brooks. Brooks is a professor of journalism and a voice of reason in the midst of sweet tea and triple layer coconut cake. When Carolina meets a interesting young man, Brooks realizes that he maybe loosing more than a friend, he maybe loosing the one woman he has been in love with for years.
Snappy, fun and a lovely peek into the southern culture makes these books fun to read and a great joy to add to that summer reading list that is probably already to long. Of course maybe they will extend summer for us this year.
