Brandilyn Collins

Dear Readers,
I am always looking for a good mystery.  It is my favorite genre; in fact I probably lean a bit towards thriller more than straight mystery.  I love the edge of the seat chill those books have.  I want to not know who-dun-it until the author is ready to reveal it.
That is why Gone to Ground by Brandilyn Collins was so fun to read.  I started reading Brandilyn years ago when she first started writing.  She added a new dimension to Christian fiction that I had been looking for.  She wrote mysteries that had that added element to them.
Gone to Ground is set in Amaryllis, Mississippi.  It is a little back water town that has stood the test of time, even when other towns were not surviving various downturns in fortune.    It has its own ghost; of course every town in the south worth its salt has a ghost, a wonderful Main street and families that have lived in town for years.  It seems like the perfect town to live and bring up a family.  That is until 5 women in 3 years have been killed.   Suddenly no one trusts anyone, because the police can’t seem to figure out who it was.  Was it somebody that everyone knew?  Was it some stranger that snuck into town to commit the murders?
Three women are sure they know who the killer is.  All three women have hard evidence that their person of interest is who the police need to know about.  All 3 are not sure if they can turn the person in.  All three women believe it is someone different.   Who is right?  Are any of them right?
This is that type of mystery.  Brandilyn is very good at laying down the clues and yet, not all of them will help you solve the mystery.   She is very good at hiding them in plain sight also, the clues I mean.   Which means of course it is more fun to try to solve the who-dun-it.

Brandilyn Collins

Dear Readers,

In typical Brandilyn Collins fashion, Exposure might not be a book you read while home alone in the dark. Every bump and creak will be a stalker coming to get you.

Kaycee Raye has spent her whole life looking over her shoulder, it is a learned behavior from her mother. Her mother taught her to be careful, watch over your shoulder and keep moving, no one can catch you that way. All Kaycee wants is to live a quiet life in the same house in the same town for more than 2 years.

She gets her wish in Wilmore Kentucky. That is until a camera with a dead guy's picture comes and goes from her kitchen table. The police dept. tries to be understanding, but they know she is a bit paranoid. Then when Kaycee's friend Hannah goes missing, the Police start thinking there might be something behind her claims of being stalked.

I love Brandilyn's books. This one is not as creepy as some of her others, but it is a good stalker book. It gave me a good shiver and it was interesting to figure the mystery out. I did figure it out before the end. Brandilyn is good at planting really good clues.

This is a great book for reading by the pool in broad daylight.

Brandilyn Collins

Dear Readers,

Most of you who have belong to this review group for a while now know what I think of Brandilyn Collins. I really enjoy her books. They are good ones for reading when you need a good "chill." It doesn't usually take me long to read them as I need to find out who the killer is before I can sleep at night, not always, but sometimes.

Dark Pursuit is her newest and I read it over the weekend. Once again she has written one of those hard to put down books. I needed to know that all was well before I closed the book last night. I don't know if this is going to be a series, but I didn't see anything on the book that showed that is was. Authors have been know to change their minds about that after the first book because the characters won't leave them alone. (creepy I know:-)

I do have one complaint, this book is not long enough, but midnight is late enough to read at night and if it was longer I would have stayed up later... Well you can see where that is going.

Kaitlan thinks she finally has it all together. A great guy, a good job, and even a baby on the way. Little does she know that one unsceduled trip home is going to change all that. She is about to find the 3rd victim of the serial killer that is loose in their town. She is sure she knows who it is and off she heads for her Grandfather's house. He just happens to be the world famouse novelist Darell Brooke, the King of Suspense. If he can't figure out what to do then no one can help her. The only problem is the last time they spoke he told her he never wanted to see her again.

So the plot thickens quickly and Brandilyn is very good at giving you the clues, but can you figure out who-done-it?

This book seems to be a bit more creepy than her last couple of the Kanner Lake series. Not that I didn't like them, but they were much more like straight up mysteries, while this one has a bad guy who is not at all what you expect. If you liked her other stories and especially her Hidden Faces series you will like this one.

So if the snow is driving you inside and wrapping up in a warm blanket with some hot chocolate... Ok I am going home now... This is a good book for that. Not relaxing, but a good read.
