With the men being the main characters of the series it adds a bit of a different element to the stories. A male's perspective of a story is a so different from the female side of it. Jake is practical and sees things as needed fixing, whether it is a troubled horse or a person, but that doesn't always go well until he is willing to listen to what the problem might be.
