Joel Rosenberg

Dear Readers,

Today is the day that many Joel Rosenberg fans have been waiting for.  The First Hostage releases this morning.  With the after Christmas release, I did hear lots of chatter about it.  Many were disappointed it was not out to give as a gift, but yet were glad to hear they would still have most of the week between Christmas and New Year's to read it.

Once again ISIS is at the center of the story.  J.B. Collins, New York Times reporter starts his report with the words "The President of the United States... is missing."  Suddenly the entire world is on high alert.  ISIS has attacked a peace summit and many of the leaders are injured and the President is missing, presumed captured.

I can only say that from page one of Joel's books you are on the edge of your seat wondering where he is going to lead you.  With topics that are relevant to our world, his books make you wonder what is real and what is fiction.

I know personally when I read one of Joel's books, I need to stop watching the news because the stories are so similar and I forget which I read about and which was reported on.  I am sure that is why his books are so popular with his readers.  You don't want to lay them down and yet they are ones you wish were based purely on his own imagination.

Happy Reading,

Joel Rosenberg

Dear Readers,
I am not sure how I have managed to read so many books about prison camps this year, with a little too much focus on Auschwitz.  It seems to be something more than one author has decided to focus on this year.  I am learning I need to space them apart a little or it can be a bit overwhelming.

The Auschwitz Escape is written by New York bestseller Joel Rosenberg and takes a step away from his action/adventure books he has been writing.  Instead of our main characters fighting to save the world, Jacob ends up in Auschwitz and all he can think of is escaping.  He winds up with a group that is trying to make sure that someone escapes and tells the world what is going on at these death camps.

As the story moves along, it can actually cause you to stress a bit as life becomes more and more stressful for the prisoners.  Each word, each movement or non-movement at the wrong time can get you killed.  Food is scarce and men and women will turn on each other over the smallest scrap of bread.

I was going to continue on there, but I really didn't want to give away the plot-line and whether Jacob and the band of resistance men inside the camp succeed in the plot to let the world know. As I read the book, I am reminded of how little America did to help the Jews during WWII.  The government refused to accept the refugees and even turned a blind eye to any and all reports coming out of Germany and Poland of the death camps.

I enjoyed this book in a very uncomfortable way.  It is not an easy little read for a Saturday afternoon, but Joel is a good author and he reminds us that man can do and does awful stuff to their fellow man all because they believe they are right.

Happy Reading

Joel Rosenberg

Dear Readers,
You will notice this review is a bit different.  I didn't write it.  A friend of mine, Den Slattery, read the book and wrote this review.  I tried very hard to get the book read before it released.  As you can tell I didn't get finished.  The parts of the story I have gotten a chance to read I have completely enjoyed.  I am leaving on a short vacation in a week and a half and plan on finishing it then.  I will have a review up shortly after that.
Until then you can enjoy Den's review.  He is a pastor at a local church and a The Twelfth Imampublished author of several books.  He has two biographical books that cover his story in Vietnam and as an Army Chaplin.
Happy Reading
Joel Rosenberg's newest book, The Twelfth Imam, takes us back to the middleast, this time centered in Iran. It's a story of spies, lies, and world conquest. It is an absorbing look into Islam, using many true to life experiences that have been heard on news broadcasts around the world. Similar to his Last Jihad series, this new book is all about the conflict between Muslims, Jews, Christians, and Americans. However, the real focus of the book is on an Islamic Messiah who is to come into this world on the heels of world war. While this may sound like science fiction, don't tell the current leader of Iran that because he is doing everything in his power to bring the Islamic Messiah into this world as soon as Iran has nuclear capability. In the book, just as it is in real life life, Washington doesn't have a clue how important this is to Muslims. Perhaps the two most important questions we can ask--Is he alive today? Will Iran start a world war to encourage him to come? Read the book and find out.
