New Releases - December 14 - 19

Dear Readers,

The weeks leading up to Christmas are when the most books are sold.  No matter the age or sex, people love to give books to each other.  It is also the one time of year that I have the fewest fiction books arriving on the shelves.  Hmmm...

Now I have often complained to publishers about this fact.  How easy it is to put a brand new book in a shoppers hand that is looking for the latest in fiction to buy that reader that reads everything.  In fact I just did that Wednesday morning.  A husband was in looking for a book for his wife who loved to read.  He was unsure of what to buy because he did not know what his wife had last read.  I was able to put two books in his hands that were brand new with confidence that his wife had not read them.

So anyways I will get off the soapbox as I don't think that will change anytime soon, but I will keep trying. :-)

Here are the titles that came in last week.

Happy Reading,

The Language of Music -  Ruth Tippy - Katherine arrives at the Emery estate with a cold reception.  Jerard Emory is trying to regain the textile mill his father recklessly lost and is more worried about that then welcoming Katherin.  About the time he really starts noticing her, his mother sends her away to work in New York.  Will Katherine ever find a family to love and a stable home?

The Mountain Midwife - Laurie Alice Eakes - (from the backcover) - For nearly two hundred years, women in Ashley Toliver's family have practiced the art of midwifery in their mountain community. Now she wants to take her skills a step further, but attending medical school means abandoning those women to whom she has dedicated her life, the mountains she loves and the awakening of her heart.
