Mercy hates her name. She has been raised by a very abusive father who is called the Preacher by everyone in their small community. He is mentally and spiritually abusive and if that is God's mercy, she wants nothing to do with it.
He steps of the line when he kills a congregation member and Mercy gets kicked out of her home by her grieving mother. As Mercy finds her way across the mountain she starts learning the true meaning of mercy. So starts Mercy's Rain by Cindy K. Sproles. Not an easy read from the beginning you will find yourself cheering Mercy on as she learns that the world is not what her father described. She finds that God's mercy is so very different that what terror that her father showed them all.
Maybe not the book to take on vacation to relax, but a good book to read.
