Dear Readers,
I am sure you all caught that I said this is a new release from Elizabeth Goudge, which is impossible as she passed away 1984. Hendrickson Publishers is re-releasing several of her more favorite books. The Bird in the Tree is the first of the Eliot Family Trilogy to release.
Matriarch Lucilla loves her family and will do anything to protect them. Her home is a center point for her family and their lives, it is a place to gather, relax and be part a loving family. When her favorite grandson goes against her wishes in who he falls in love with, Lucilla has to figure out how to overcome the turmoil that is now causing problems in her well laid out plans.
If any of you are fans of Downton Abbey, for some reason Lucilla, in my imagination, looks just like character that Maggie Smith plays. She is loving, caring and yet expects things to go the way she wants them to. I had a chance to read the first few chapters of the book and found myself delighted with the storyline and plan on finishing the book soon.
Happy Reading
