Lisa Wiehl

Dear Readers,

Some of you may know of the cable network news channel, Fox News Channel. Lisa Wiehl is on the show, "The O'Reilly Factor" often. She is the lawyer that they always ask those hard questions of. Personally I had to say I kind of recognized her name, but could not tell you why.

Face of Betrayal is her first novel, which is co-written by April Henry. Katie is home on Christmas break and disappears. No one know whether she was kidnapped, ran away or what. Reporter Cassidy Shaw, along with her fellow triple threat ladies, becomes deeply involved with the story. She is trying very hard to stay ahead in the news business, which with the High Def TV coming is becoming harder and harder to do.
Cassidy is determined to stay on the story and to be the first to break the latest on the story, she believes that this story will make or break her career. She works it from every angle and even goes so far that she compromises what she asks her other friends to do or tell her. Allison Pierce, Federal Prosecutor and Nicloe Hedges, Special Agent with the FBI all are very affected by this case. Their friendship is the one thing they all depend on to keep themselves sane.

I liked that aspect of the this story and am interested to see where these two authors go in book 2. I did struggle with the story line a bit. It was written too close to the Chanda Levy story that was making headlines around the time of 9/11. I feel the storyline itself could have started that way, but not have followed that story so closely. If made it just a bit less appealing. Over all this is one of those books that looks and sounds like it should be better, but needs a bit of work. I hope the next one is better.

Happy Reading
